Renowned singer Rita Lee, aged 75, passed away on Monday night (May 8) after battling lung cancer, which was diagnosed in 2021.
The family confirmed the death of the singer on social media. She died at her residence in São Paulo, the state capital, late last night, “surrounded by all the love and her family, as she always wanted," says the family statement.
"According to Rita's will, her body will be cremated. The ceremony will be private. In this moment of deep sadness, the family thanks everyone for their affection and love," the family’s note reads.
Rita Lee leaves behind her husband, Roberto de Carvalho, and three sons - Beto, 45; João, 44; and Antônio, 42.
