The United States government has pledged a donation of 400 body cameras to Brazil. According to the US embassy's press office, this initiative will provide Brazilian public security forces with an opportunity to assess the advantages and drawbacks of employing such devices while the country concurrently develops its own national project for implementing this technology.

Additionally, the donation includes a software program for image management and comprehensive training for public servants to operate the system, making the combined contribution's value approximately $1 million, according to the US embassy.

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security confirmed that the cameras are already within Brazilian territory, undergoing the final administrative steps required for their release. It is anticipated that these cameras will be made available by the end of December.

Furthermore, 200 cameras will be designated to the Federal Highway Police for their bodycams strategic project, which has been in progress since March of this year. The organization has been conducting studies and tests to affix these cameras to the uniforms of select personnel.

“The implementation of body cameras aims to enhance and sustain the safety of road agents and individuals approached on federal highways, ultimately enhancing the quality of services provided by the institution,” noted the police in a statement.
