Brazilians repatriated from Gaza on their way to Brazil
The plane provided by the Brazilian government for Operation Returning in Peace departured on Monday morning (Nov. 13) from Cairo, Egypt, with 32 returnees, and is on its way to Brazil.
Initially, the aircraft will make a technical stop in Las Palmas, Spain. Subsequently, upon entering Brazilian territory, it will have another stop at Recife Air Base. Finally, it will depart for Brasília Air Base, and is expected to arrive at 11:30 p.m. (Brasília local time).
The federal government prepared a reception operation to welcome the Brazilians and their Palestinian relatives who have left the Gaza Strip. Upon their return, individuals will receive psychological support, medical care, and immunization. They will undergo a rest period in Brasília, accommodated in facilities provided by the Brazilian Air Force, before proceeding to other cities in the country.
The Brazilian Ministry of Health reports that the National Force of the country’s public healthcare network, the SUS, is actively engaged in providing essential healthcare services to the returnees upon their arrival in Brasília.
"The provision, upon reception, encompasses psychological and clinical care, addressing potential urgencies and emergencies. The team comprises five health professionals: a doctor, a nurse, and three psychologists. Furthermore, a Samu/DF ambulance, configured as a mobile ICU, will be accessible, with a doctor and nurse, should specialized care within the health network unit be required," elucidated the ministry in response to Agência Brasil.
The group en route to the country consists of 22 Brazilians by birth, seven Palestinians who are naturalized Brazilians, and three Palestinians who are close relatives. Among the 32 returnees, there are 17 children, nine women, and six men.
