Brazil beats Qatar and remains 100% at the Men's Volleyball World Cup
The men's volleyball team closed the first round of the World Championship with 100% success. On Tuesday (30), the Brazilians beat Qatar by 3 sets to 0 (25/13, 25/23 and 26/24), at the Arena Stozice, in Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia).
With three wins in three games, Brazil finished Group A of the World Cup in the lead with eight points, followed by Japan, which secured second place with six points, after beating Cuba, which was in third place.
The selection led by Renan Dal Zotto awaits the conclusion of the third round in the other groups, on Wednesday (31), to know who will face in the round of 16. The team with the best campaign in the first round faces the one with the worst score, and the second team with more positive performance faces the second with fewer points, and so on.
Brazil is three-time world champion in men's volleyball and has been present in the last five finals, lifting the trophy in 2002 (overcoming Russia), 2006 (Poland) and 2010 (Cuba), and finishing runner-up in 2014 and 2018 (both with a loss to the Poles). If they win the trophy, the country would become the greatest active winner and second in history, behind only the former Soviet Union, owner of six trophies.
