Current Rio de Janeiro Governor Luiz Fernando Pezão (PMDB) and Senator Marcelo Crivella, from the Brazilian Republican Party (PRB) will face each other in the second-round election for governor of Rio de Janeiro state, the country's third largest electoral college.
With 97.85% of ballots counted, Pezão is reported to have received 40.77% of valid votes, whereas Crivella got 20.19%. Former Governor Anthony Garotinho (PR) ranks third, with 19.61%.
Blank votes total 6.09%, and spoiled ballots 11.44%.
