The Chief Justice at the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Dias Toffoli, said Thursday (Dec. 18) that the presidential elections won't go to a “third round”. The statement was made during her address at a diploma-awarding ceremony for the upcoming inauguration of the re-elected President Dilma Rousseff and Vice-President Michel Temer at the court plenary room.

The diploma award is a formal procedure that entitles Rousseff and Temer to take office on January 1st for another term.

According to Toffoli, the 2014 elections are over for the Electoral Court. “The Electoral Court holds no third rounds. There's no room for speculations, no room for a third round which would overturn the choice of 54,511,118 voters,” he said, referring to the vote received by Rousseff in the election run-off against Aécio Neves.

Before the awarding ceremony, Neves's party, PSDB, filed with TSE to annul Rousseff's second term, claiming that she failed to fully comply with the election rules during her campaign, by using State organizations to her benefit and committing financial misuse.
