Petrobras announced that its Administrative Council approved by majority vote, during a meeting held Friday (Feb 6), the election of Aldemir Bendine as the new CEO of Brazil's state-controlled oil giant Petrobras, in place of Maria das Graças Silva Foster, who recently resigned. The decision is to remain valid up to the next general meeting with shareholders.

Aldemir Bendine was the president of Banco do Brasil and a member of its Administrative Council. He holds an MBA in Finance and General Training for High Executives from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio).

The Administrative Council has further nominated as director for finance and relations with investors Ivan Souza Monteiro, who was vice-president of financial management and  relations with investors at Banco do Brasil, where he  occupied a number of management positions. He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications from Inatel-MG, with an MBA in Finance and Management.

The remaining positions were given to other Petrobras executives: current Executive Manager for Exploration and Corporate Production Solange da Silva Guedes was elected director for exploration and production; Jorge Celestino Ramos, currently the director for supply logistics, will be the new supply director; Jugo Repsold Júnior will take over gas and energy; and Roberto Moro will be director for engineering, technology and materials.
