Rousseff says government firmly and humbly overcomes difficulties
President Dilma Rousseff said her government is overcoming the difficulties with firmness and humility, and promised that the "crossing" the country is making, with fiscal adjustment, can be short, and it will promote a steady growth.
In her address at Barreiras city, in Bahia, for delivering units of the affordable housing program "Minha Casa, Minha Vida", the president said that people should have courage and determination to face the problems.
"We can never be intimidated before a difficulty. There is only one way to overcome the difficulty: it is in fact with humility, not with arrogance, thinking we're better than others. That is what my government is doing, we are facing the difficulties with firmness," she declared.
According to Rousseff, Brazilians have "optimism rooted in their soul," and "Brazil is a lot bigger and stronger, with more richness than any immediate problem we are having."
"I assure you that this is crossing to a new moment, in which we will grow more rapidly, we will create more jobs, create equal opportunities for everyone. This crossing can be short," she said.
The ceremony marked the handover of the keys to 1,476 units of the affordable housing program "Minha Casa, Minha Vida" to residents of Barreiras city. The president reiterated the continuity of the housing program after delivering the houses contracted at the second stage; the third stage will be launched. "I doubt that from now on any government will dare to end this program. It is very important for the part of the Brazilian population that cannot afford their own housing to be supported by the government," she declared.
