Supreme Court dismisses allegations implicating Rousseff over Pasadena deal
Supreme Court Justice Teori Zavascki has decided to dismiss Senator Delcídio do Amaral's allegations implicating President Dilma Rousseff in the scandal over the purchase of a refinery in Pasadena, Texas (USA), by Petrobras.
In doing so, Zavascki granted a request by Prosecutor-General Rodrigo Janot, who argued that the president cannot be investigated during her term of office for facts not relevant to her actions as president.
In one of his plea bargaining statements, Amaral said that Rousseff had been “completely aware” of the circumstances around the deal to buy the Pasadena refinery, which resulted in financial losses for Petrobras.
Rousseff has maintained that the facts around the purchase have all been clarified based on documents from Petrobras's Board of Directors. She was chair of the Petrobras Board of Directors at the time the refinery deal.
