Eight state ministers with seats in the lower house were ousted today (Oct. 20) by President Michel Temer. The move sends them back to the Chamber of Deputies, where they are expected to vote on the charges filed against Temer. The plenary session on the matter is slated to be held on Wednesday (25).

This is the second round of charges filed by federal prosecutors against the president. This time, Temer is being accused of obstruction of justice and criminal organization. Chief of Staff Eliseu Padilha and the president's Secretary-General Moreira Franco are also targeted for criminal organization.

On Wednesday (18), a special lower house committee had voted to approve a report recommending the rejection of the charges.

Affected by the decision were the following ministers: Antonio Imbassahy (Government Secretariat), Leonardo Picciani (Sports), Ronaldo Nogueira (Labor), Sarney Filho (Environment), Marx Beltrão (Tourism),  Maurício Quintella Lessa (Transport), Mendonça Filho (Education), and Bruno Cavalcanti (Cities).
