Rio de Janeiro
Two weeks before the kickoff of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, a three-meter high, six-meter-long sculpture portraying the Olympic rings was placed today (Jul. 21) on Copacabana Beach, southern Rio de Janeiro. The work, by visual artist Elisa Brasil, was built with recycled material.
For the piece, 65kg of recycled material was collected by an NGO on several spots across the city.
The sculpture stands in front of the Copacabana Palace Hotel, and anyone can go near it and touch it.
