The 2022–2023 season is entering its final stretch and earning its place as the best in ten years, with 650 thousand to 700 thousand passengers on board—over four times the previous season, which had fewer ships and a shorter sailing period.
The move comes after a steep surge in COVID-19 cases aboard ships. By January 6, 1,177 cases of COVID-19 had been reported among crew members and passengers—a solid growth in the case tally on ships.
