The Minister of Agriculture Tereza Cristina said food security is a matter of national security, and fertilizers play an important role in the war context in Ukraine.
The amount could reach 291 million tons thanks to the sector's enthusiasm for prices and the good performance of Brazilian agriculture, according to Tereza Cristina.
Upon opening the Planeta Campo Forum, organized by Canal Rural, the minister of Agriculture said that agriculture and livestock farming is part of the solution to reduce the impacts of global warming.
“The first step now is to strike down the suspension of Brazilian meat. We’re moving forward in this, and I hope it takes place next month,” the minister told journalists outside the ministry building, in Brasília.
According to the minister Tereza Cristina, Brazil’s goal until 2030 is to disseminate low-carbon technology to over 72 million hectares of farmland with no need to convert new areas to productive activity. This brings the estimated slash in emissions to over 1 billion tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.
