“Brazil calls on the international community to urgently take concrete steps to support the country, in particular through the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2699,” a note from the Foreign Ministry reads.
Foreign ministers also called for an overhaul of the UN Security Council. The highlights of the assembly were disclosed by Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira at the end of the gathering in Rio de Janeiro.
"Our inability to unite and respond to this challenging crisis is evident to everyone," said Brazil's representative on the United Nations Security Council, Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.
Brazil’s representative at the UN emphasized the country's condemnation of acts of terrorism against Israeli civilians and urged the immediate release of the hostages.
US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield noted that the US president is in the region of the conflict, which she said demonstrates the country’s involvement in the issue. “We need that diplomacy to play out,” she declared.
