Brazil trade balance posts $2.842 billion deficit

Brazil's balance of trade registered a deficit of $2.842 billion for February, with exports totaling $12.092 billion and imports $14.932 billion. This is the worst figure for the month since the current historic series began, in 1980.
Brazil's year-to-date deficit stands at $6.016 billion, with exports adding up to $25.795 billion and imports $31.812 billion. The deficit last year for the same period stood at $6.19 billion.
The number of business days up to the end of February 2015 adds up to 39, against 2014's equivalent of 41. This brings the average daily balance to a negative $154.3 million thus far in the year.
Data were published Monday (Mar 2) by the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade.
