Brazilian entrepreneurs that attended the World Food Moscow exhibition, in Russia, hammered out deals adding up to $99.9 million throughout the four-day event. According to data from the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), the figure includes agreements reached during the trip plus estimates for the next 12 months, stemming from the 430 meetings held with Russian buyers last week.
Representatives from 20 Brazilian companies were gathered at the largest food, drinks and agribusiness fair in Russia from September 14 to 17 thanks to ApexBrasil, which worked in collaboration with the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters and the Brazilian Association for Animal Protein.
The international fair took place in the same week as Brazil's business mission in Russia and Poland, led by vice-President Michel Temer. “The results of the mission were very positive on account of the boost to trade between Brazil and the two countries visited, which are part of the priority market under the National Exports Plan, and the beneficiaries of the ApexBrasil's initiatives for promoting commerce and attracting investment,” said ApexBrasil Chairman David Barioni Neto in a note.
According to ApexBrasil, the commercial ties between Brazil and Russia focus on Brazil's meat exports. Beef, pork, and chicken accounted for 63.5% of all Brazilian sales to Russia last year. In 2014, Brazil sold Russia as much as $3.8 billion and imported some $3 billion.
