Industrialists' confidence in economy lower in September
The Industrial Businessman's Confidence Rate fell once again after the stability registered in August, the National Industry Confederation (CNI) reported today (Sep. 18). The reduction totals 1.4 points in September, and brought the rate down to 35.7 points, the lowest level in this historic series, started in 1999. The figure is 10.9 points below September 2014, and 19.8 points lower than the average for this series.
The indicator, which varies from zero to a hundred points, has now been below 50 for a year and a half, as per CNI data. Values under 50 indicate lack of confidence among executives.
Among medium-sized companies, the rate slipped from 36.8 to 35.1 from August to September. Among large businesses, the index went from 37.8 to 36.1 points. Among small firms, the indicator held virtually steady—from 35.8 in August to 35.5 in September.
As for the future, the index regarding the economy and the companies declined 1.6 points in September from August—a change from 28.1 to 27.5 in the period.
CNI's study was conducted from September 1 to 14, with 2,972 companies being surveyed, of which 1,182 are small, 1,099 are medium, and 691 large.
