Tax collection reached $298.8 billion last year. According to the IRS, the result fell 5.62%, compared to 2014, adjusted for inflation by the Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA).
According to the IRS, the main reason for the drop in 2015 revenues was the low demand for special part payment of federal debt. Last year $5.2 billion was collected by the part payment, compared with $8.7billion in 2014.
Tax exemptions—reduced tax rates—also contributed to the weak revenue performance. They have totaled $25.2 billion in 2015. In the case, the greatest loss was on the exemption on the companies payroll ($5.9 billion).
