Brazil's Foreign Affairs Minister José Serra began a visit to Madrid, the Spanish capital, this Monday (Nov. 21) with a meeting attended by Secretary of State for Commerce Maria Luísa Poncela. According to Serra, they talked about the "a Spanish business mission to Brazil, which will aim at boosting trade and increasing reciprocal investments," according to a report published by the minister on social media.

The Brazilian minister noted that Spain is the country with the second largest individual investment in Brazil. "In fact, Brazil is the third main destination of Spanish investments in the world," he pointed out.

On Tuesday (22), the minister will be received by King Felipe VI and Spain's Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, and will also have a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Alfonso Dastis. A negotiation of a free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union is on the agenda, which also includes discussions on cooperation in science, technology and innovation, new trade and investments.

On Wednesday (23), the last day of the trip, Serra will attend a business seminar with Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Maurício Quintella; Mines and Energy Minister Fernando Coelho Filho; and the Executive Secretary for the Investment Partnership Program, Moreira Franco. In the event, the Brazilian delegation will show to Spanish investors Brazil's Crescer (Grow) programme, which has launched 34 new projects in the infrastructure sector in Brazil.
