Industrial output increased 0.5% on average in September

Production decreased in only three of the 14 locations surveyed by the

Industrial output grew in nine of the 14 locations covered by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) Monthly Survey of Industry from August to September this year. The national average growth was 0.5% compared to August.

The main improvement was reported in Espírito Santo, which saw its production level go up 9%. Other places with above-average growth were Minas Gerais (2%), São Paulo (1.6%), Rio Grande do Sul (0.7%), and the Northeast (0.6%). Industrial production also increased in Amazonas (0.5%), Pará (0.5%), Rio de Janeiro (0.5%) and Pernambuco (0.2%).

Two states had the same output in September as in August—Paraná and Santa Catarina. Production was smaller than in August in three states—Goiás (-3.3%), Ceará (-1.9%), and Bahia (-1.6%).
