Brazil's industrial production closed out April up 0.6% from March. As against other periods, however, there has been a decrease: compared to the first four months of the year (-0.7%), over April 2016 (-4.5%) or considering the cumulative 12-month production (-3.6%).
The figures are part of the Monthly Industrial Survey released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in Rio today (June 2).
The 0.6% growth reported in April compared to March reflected an increase in three out of the four major industrial categories: intermediate goods (+2.1%), durable consumer goods (+1.9%), and capital goods (+1.5%). In semi and non-durable consumer goods, production was 0.8% smaller.
