Another low-cost carrier allowed to operate in Brazil

Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency, ANAC, last week approved the entry of air carrier JetSmart in Brazil. The low-cost company belongs to US group Indigo Partners, and should operate flights between Chile and Brazil.
The approval benefits the group’s subsidiary in Chile. Earlier on, late in August, ANAC had approved the authorization for the Argentine subsidiary to work Brazil–Argentina.
“In addition to JetSmart, four low-cost companies have come to the country since the opening of the market and the deregulation of the waiver on checked luggage. Three foreign companies have already started offering tickets: Chile’s Sky Airlines [from Santiago to Rio de Janeiro and Guarulhos, in São Paulo, active since 2018]; European Norwegian [London–Rio since May 2018]; and Argentina’s Flybondi [from Argentina to Rio and Florianópolis, starting in October 2019,” ANAC reported.
