Brazil’s ports report traffic of 1.2 bi tons in 2021, up 4.8%

The circulation of goods at Brazilian ports has seen a new record, said the country’s national water transportation authority ANTAQ. Cargoes adding up to some 1.2 billion tons formed the traffic in 2021—up 4.8 percent from 2020.

“Ports are no longer seen as a bottleneck. The sector has been meeting the demands of Brazil’s productive chain and delivering more and more expressive results. In addition to the market, this response comes as a result of our investment as well as the private enterprise,” Infrastructure Minister Tarcísio de Freitas declared.

According to a note published by the Ministry of Infrastructure, the number is also expected to rise in 2022. The figures disclosed show a predicted 2.4 percent increase from 2021.
