Brazilian chicken meat is about to enter the Algerian market. The negotiations between Brazil and Algeria were concluded, the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations reported, “after the review of certificates and audits that supported the analysis and establishment of phytosanitary requirements for the import of the national product.”
The opening of the Algerian market is said result from the integrated work between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Relations.
Production
Brazil is the world’s largest exporter and second largest producer of chicken meat, and has established itself as a reliable and competitive supplier, allocating 36 percent of national production to the foreign market, the ministry stated.
Brazilian exports of the product reached $6.73 billion by August, up 5.5 percent from the same period in 2022.
Last year, Brazil exported $9.52 billion worth of chicken meat, shipping 4.6 million tons to 170 markets. The main import markets for Brazilian chicken meat are China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
