Total federal revenue closed out the month of September at BRL 174.31 billion, the Ministry of Finance reported today (Oct. 24). The figure represents a drop of 0.34 percent from September 2022, discounting inflation as measured by the consumer price index IPCA.

From January through September, tax collection totaled just over BRL 1.6 trillion, up 0.64 percent on the same time span last year.

Main factors

According to the Ministry of Finance, the lower collection can be explained mainly by changes in tax legislation and atypical payments, especially Corporate Income Tax (IRPJ in the original acronym) and Social Contribution on Net Profits (CSLL).
