The coach of Brazil’s women’s national football team, Swede Pia Sundhage, said she expects a tough game against Uruguay on Tuesday (Jul 12) as part of the Copa América, played in Colombia.

“As opponents, Uruguay are different from Argentina [a team against whom Brazil debuted in the competition with a 4–0 thrashing last Saturday], and we need to be prepared to deal with their attacking style. It’ll be a tough game, with fierce fighting for the ball, so the key here is making sure we stay away from pressure, keeping the ball moving and minding the angles when we have possession. It’ll be hard, and we have to be patient, because the game has two periods of 45 minutes, and, as long as we can move without the ball, we’ll create chances and keep our defense solid as well,” the coach told the press Monday (11).

After the comfortable victory in their opening match of the competition, the Brazilians lead Group A with three points. The Uruguayans come fourth in the group, with no points, after losing 1–0 to Venezuela in the first round.

Brazil and Uruguay face off at 6 pm (Brasília time) on Tuesday at the Centenário stadium, in the city of Armenia.
