Semifinals of Libertadores, Sudamericana to be held Aug 30–Sep 1
CONMEBOL on Friday (Aug 12) set the dates for the semifinals of its Libertadores and South American cups. The matches of both tournaments will take place from August 30 to September 1.
In the Libertadores Cup, the first teams to take the field will be Athletico-PR and Palmeiras at the Baixada arena, in Curitiba, Brazil, on August 30. The next day, Argentina’s receives Flamengo at the José Amalfitani stadium, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The semifinals of the South American Cup begin in Quito, Ecuador, on August 31, with Independiente del Valle (Ecuador) facing Melgar (Peru). The other, all-Brazilian semifinal will be held at the Serra Dourada stadium in Goiânia, Brazil, with Atlético-GO facing São Paulo in the first match.
The decisive return matches, which define who goes to the Sudamericana final, begin on September 7, with Melgar hosting Independiente del Valle in Arequipa, Peru. On the following day, São Paulo hosts Atlético-GO at the Morumbi stadium, in Brazil.
