Notably, Samuel de Oliveira broke the world record for the 100-meter butterfly, S5 class (physical-motor impairment), in the qualifying heats with a time of 1min16s44, which had previously been held by his compatriot Daniel Dias since 2013. In the finals, Oliveira managed to clinch the bronze medal with a time of 1min17s39.
Furthermore, Cecília Araújo bagged the fourth Brazilian medal of the day, winning silver in the 50-meter freestyle, S8 class (physical-motor impairments). In total, Brazil secured seven gold, seven silver, and five bronze medals throughout the World Series.
"The Brazilian team had an impressive and resounding performance, resulting in excellent outcomes. Several athletes swam well, and it was an opportunity for testing longer competitions. We employed a multidisciplinary approach and devised an extensive program of events," said the Brazilian paralympic swimming team's head coach, Leonardo Tomasello, in an interview with the Brazilian Paralympic Committee.
