Paralympic Swimming: Brazil wins three golds in Italy

The Brazilian team opened the World Series with four medals

The Brazilian delegation started Thursday (Mar. 9) the World Series of Paralympic Swimming in Lignano (Italy), reaching good results: three gold and one silver medals. Gabriel Araújo was the star in the S2 class (severe physical-motor impairment). He won two events.

The 20-year-old swimmer secured gold in the 150-meter medley in 3min42s28 and triumphed in the 100-meter freestyle in 1min56s96, setting an Americas’ record.

Brazil's third gold medal on Thursday was secured by Cecília de Araújo, in the 100-meter freestyle, class S8 (moderate physical-motor impairments), in 1min8s76. The fourth Brazilian medal was a silver one won by João Pedro Brutos in the 100-meter breaststroke, class SB14 (intellectual disability).
