Squad land in Australia for FIFA Women’s World Cup
The Brazilian women’s national football team have arrived in Australia, where they are expected to kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama in just 20 days. Led by coach Pia Sundhage, the team landed in Brisbane after a grueling 24-hour chartered flight.
“We’ll have a lot of work ahead of us if we want to show up in top shape at the World Cup and hopefully leave with the title,” defender Antônia said in an interview with the Brazilian Football Confederation.
From the airport, the Brazilian players boarded a bus to Gold Coast, south of Brisbane. The team should have their first training session Thursday (Jul. 6).
