Operation Car Wash launches new stage in Rio and Bahia
The Federal Police (PF in the original acronym) issued on Monday (Nov. 16) two warrants for temporary arrest, eleven for search and seizure and five for forceful presentation (when the person is taken to the police for giving testimonies), as part of the 20th stage of Operation Car Wash, called Corrosion.
According to the PF, the warrants are being executed in Salvador city and in Rio de Janeiro state, including the capital, and the cities of Rio Bonito, Niterói and Petrópolis. The targets to be reached by this stage are former employees of a state-led firm, not identified by police, being probed for receiving bribes from representatives of contractors.
The PF investigates the acts of a new financial operator in Operation Car Wash that would be a facilitator for bribes paid to board members of the state-led firm. The employees investigated will be sentenced for corruption, fraud in bids, tax evasion, and money laundering, among other crimes. The prisoners will be taken to the federal police headquarters in Curitiba.
