Civil Defense authorities in Minas Gerais state, Southeast Brazil, confirmed Tuesday (Jan. 11) another ten deaths as a result of the rains in the state.
This brings the death toll in the state since October 1, when the beginning started, to 19. As probes are still ongoing, data do not include the ten deaths that took place last Saturday (8) in Capitólio town, after a slab of rock toppled from a cliff on Furnas lake.
Throughout the state, 145 municipalities are facing an emergency-level situation. People who lost their homes total 3,481. Those who were forced to leave their homes add up to 13,756. The figures are the latest released by the authorities thus far.
