Brazil Justice Minister: all Brazilian highways unblocked
Brazil Minister of Justice and Public Safety Anderson Torres announced on Thursday (Nov. 10), on social media, all highways in the country have been unblocked by the Federal Highway Police
On October 30, after the announcement of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's victory in the second round of the presidential election, truckers and supporters of Jair Bolsonaro set up roadblocks on highways in various parts of the country.
Justice of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes ordered the total unblocking of the federal highways, considering that stoppages "distort the constitutional right of assembly.”
Brazil´s Federal Highway Police also have confirmed that all roads and highways in the country are free of blockades. Since the beginning of the protests, 1,087 demonstrations have been dispersed by the police.
