TV Brasil turns 15, ranks 5th on national ratings list
Recognized by Brazilian society as a source of reliable information as well as relevant and quality content, TV Brasil—run by Empresa Brasil de Comunicação, or EBC—is celebrating its 15th anniversary today (Dec. 2). The station’s programming has gained public interest for its attractions, consolidating the channel as the fifth most watched in the country since December 2021.
According to data from Kantar Ibope Media, TV Brasil improved its market position among both broadcast and cable channels, rising from ninth in December 2020 to fifth in December last year. With the modernization of its technological park, the signal has is now fully available in Brazil via satellite.
More than 74 million people have been reached with quality programming—which includes journalism, children’s attractions, series, movies, telenovelas, musicals, and entertainment. Major sporting events, such as the Paralympics, have also been broadcast as part of the schedule over the course of these 15 years.
For EBC’s Director-President Glen Valente, the growth in ratings stems from the fruit of a management with responsibility and commitment to the public. “At TV Brasil, we always think about relevance, because when we are relevant we have the opportunity to communicate to more Brazilians. Furthermore, the partnerships with our affiliates in the national public broadcasting network are a great highlight. Through them, we portray and show Brazil with quality regional content,” he said.
