Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has appointed Jean Lima as president of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), which manages the country’s public broadcasting system. His mandate runs until October 30, 2025.
After former president Hélio Doyle stepped down, Jean Lima, EBC’s general director at the time, took over as acting president. The appointment was made Friday (Dec. 15).
With a doctorate in Economic History and a master’s degree in Social History, Lima has worked as a consultant for the federal government and the third sector in the development of projects and agreements for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of public policies in education and school feeding.
He has also held various positions in the government of the Federal District, including president of the Federal District Planning Company (Codeplan) and the Federal District Research and Statistics Institute (Ipedf).
