The move is expected to guarantee the water sustainability of 39 more municipalities in Paraíba state, reaching some 680 thousand people.
In a phone call, the European leader praised the Brazilian government’s position of encouraging dialogue between President Nicolás Maduro and the Venezuelan opposition following the elections in the South American country.
President Lula stated that Venezuelan authorities need to present the election minutes to resolve the impasse between the opposition and the government.
“Hunger is not just the result of external factors, it is above all the result of political choices. Today the world produces more than enough food to eradicate it. We just need to create the conditions for access to food,” the president argued.
The Olympic Games begin on Jul. 26 and run until Aug. 11. The Brazilian delegation includes 277 athletes—153 women and 12 men. The Paralympics will take place from Aug. 28 to Sep. 8, with 124 Brazilian athletes.
