Lula cleared by doctors for air travel after new assessment
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva received medical clearance for air travel after undergoing new imaging tests on Sunday (Nov. 10) at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital in Brasília.
According to a medical report, he remains symptom-free after the domestic accident he suffered on October 19. The assessment showed an improvement in this Sunday’s exam compared to the previous ones, and he should maintain his usual activities.
President Lula fell in the bathroom of his official residence, the Alvorada Palace, and needed five stitches in the back of his head. Imaging tests carried out shortly after the accident showed a small hemorrhage in the president’s brain.
After the fall, the medical team recommended that Lula avoid long-distance travel as a precaution. As a result, the president canceled his trip to attend the BRICS Leaders’ Summit in Kazan, Russia. He was also not in São Paulo for the second round of the municipal elections on Sunday (Oct. 27).
