São Paulo's street carnival has set a new record with 767 registered reveler groups. A total of 860 parades are planned across the city, as each association may perform multiple times.

The previous record was set in 2020, with 644 registered groups. However, the pandemic led to a two-year hiatus for parades in the city. In 2023, there were 475 associations, and in 2024, the number increased to 579.

The traditional street parade season begins in the pre-carnival period on February 22 and extends into the post-carnival period, ending on March 8 and 9. In 2025, Carnival will start on Saturday, March 1, and conclude on Ash Wednesday, March 5.

“We are ready to welcome all revelers with an even safer and better-structured carnival. São Paulo Tourism Agency SPTuris' role is to ensure the event is accessible and enjoyable for everyone, with every detail carefully planned to guarantee the safety and comfort of those on the streets,” said Gustavo Pires, president of SPTuris, in a statement.

SPTuris is responsible for the organization of the street festival, from the registration of the associations to the application of safety regulations. According to the municipal administration, the descriptions and routes of the parades should be published in the next few days.
