During the second BRICS Media Forum, China's state-owned Xinhua news agency announced it will provide one million dollar to create a fund that will promote cooperation among media outlets from BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa). The announcement was made by Xinhua President Cai Mingzhao.

At the end of the two-day event, which ended Thursday (June 8) in Beijing, an action plan was launched to strengthen cooperation among the press of the BRICS countries. It will expand areas of cooperation among BRICS media organizations, develop digital media among the bloc's countries, provide financial information services, and strengthen the sense of social responsibility in the media.

“The fund will be used to facilitate implementation of the action plan in order to enable BRICS countries to strengthen media cooperation,” said Cai Mingzhao, who is also the executive president of the BRICS Media Forum.

The 9th BRICS Summit will be held on September 3-5 in Xiamen, a 3.8 million people city in Fujian province, on the southeast coast of China. According to the Chinese government, the upcoming summit aims to deepen pragmatic cooperation among member countries and strengthen governance to meet global challenges.
