The US President Donald Trump has said Russia may have interfered with the 2016 US election which saw him into presidency. Speaking at a news conference on Wednesday (July 5) in Warsaw, Poland, Trump evasively said there may have been interference from Russia, but also from other countries. “I think it was Russia but I think it was probably other people and/or countries … Nobody really knows for sure.”

Trump is in Poland for a bilateral agenda with Polish President Andrzej Duda and met with Polish and Croatian leaders. Today he is going to Hamburg, Germany, where will meet German Prime Minister Angela Merkel and attend the G20 summit.

He will also meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Following the US president's statements at the press conference, the Kremlin told the international press in Moscow it did not agree with Trump's statements. The US president also said he was working with allies to combat Russia's actions and its “destabilizing” behavior.

The FBI is investigating interference from Russian hackers in the 2016 presidential election. Donald Trump himself has been accused of obstructing justice by former FBI director James Comey, who claims he was fired by Trump for his refusal to drop the investigation on Russian interference.
