Lula leaves ICU for semi‑intensive care
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is alert and clear-headed, eating normally and walking the corridors of the Sírio-Libanês Hospital, where he remains hospitalized, now in semi-intensive care. The information comes from the latest medical report, released at 11:20 am Friday (Dec. 13).
The president had his head drain removed on Thursday (12). It had been placed in a surgery Tuesday (10). The procedure took place “with no complications,” as a followup to an intervention carried out in the morning and considered successful by the doctors.
The doctors said that President Lula’s neurological examination was normal. “At no point did he have any brain damage,” said Dr. Kalil, explaining that the president is already “talking, eating, and walking back and forth.”
They reaffirmed no future complications are expected, adding that the Brazilian leader is considered “cognitively intact.”
