Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva remains hospitalized at the Sírio-Libanês Hospital in São Paulo on Wednesday (Dec. 11). He is under intensive care for treatment of a brain bleed.

A medical bulletin released at noon reported that his condition “evolved well in the immediate post-operative period, with no complications.”

“He is lucid and focused. He is talking and spent the night well,” the statement reads.

President Lula continues to be monitored by the medical team, under the care of Dr. Roberto Kalil Filho and Dr. Ana Helena Germoglio.

In the early hours of Tuesday (10), President Lula underwent a craniotomy to drain a bruise. The surgery transpired smoothly.
