On the second day of his visit to Israel, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro today (Apr. 1) decorated the 136 Israeli military agents from the search brigade of the Home Front Command with the National Southern Cross Order medal.

The men and women of the brigade came to Brazil in January to help search for the people missing after disaster brought about by the collapse of the Mina Córrego do Feijão tailings dam, in Brumadinho, Minas Gerais state. As per the latest count, 217 people died, and 87 are missing.

Bolsonaro will also visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, a Christian temple located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. Christians believe this is where Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected on the third day. The place is regarded as one of the main pilgrimage spots in Israel by religious tourists.

His last engagement will be a visit to the president at the Wailing Wall, joined by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The place is considered to be sacred by Jews, as it was built with a portion of what was left of Herod’s Temple—the symbol of the return to the holy land for the Jewish people. At the Wailing Wall, Jews place notes with their wishes and pray.
