Brazil´s Vice President Hamilton Mourão arrived in Santiago, Chile, on Wednesday (Mar. 9) where he participates in the inauguration ceremony of the country's president-elect Gabriel Boric, who takes office this Friday (Mar. 11).

"With great joy, I land in Chile on an official mission - representing President Jair Bolsonaro - to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the President-elect Gabriel Boric. I will wish him success in his new task, and convey that the ties that unite us will remain strong," posted Mourão on his Twitter account.

The inauguration ceremony will be held at Chiles´s Congress in Valparaíso, on the country´s coast. Afterwards, Mourão will participate in a lunch offered in honor of the presidents and vice presidents of the invited countries at the Presidential Palace of Cerro Castillo, in Viña del Mar.

Mourão will have meetings with Boric and the outgoing president Sebastian Piñera. He will also participate in a meeting with businessmen, and attend a dinner in honor of the heads of delegation, offered by Piñera at La Moneda Palace.

Former center-left student leader Gabriel Boric, aged 35, won the Chilean elections on December 19 of last year, in the second round. He defeated the rightist José Kast.
