Two aircraft of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) landed in the city of Recife, Pernambuco state, at around 6:30 am today (Mar. 10). The KC-390 Millennium freighter and the Embraer Legacy brought 42 Brazilians, 20 Ukrainians, 5 Argentinians, and 1 Colombian, in addition to 14 children. Eight dogs and two cats were also brought back.

The repatriates had a three-hour stopover in Recife and then left for Brasilia. They were welcomed by President Jair Bolsonaro.

Brazil’s Foreign Minister Carlos França, participated in the plan, dubbed Operação Repatriação (Operation Repatriation), and accompanied the repatriates. He was on an official visit to Poland, where he met his Polish counterpart.

After leaving Warsaw, Poland, yesterday (9), the planes made stopovers in Lisbon, Portugal, and on Sal Island, Cape Verde.

On the KC-390’s outbound flight, 11.6 tons of donations were transported to Ukraine, including some nine tons of nutritious dehydrated food, equivalent to about 360 thousand meals, 50 water purifiers, with a capacity of approximately 300 thousand liters of water a day, and half a ton of essential supplies and medical items.

On its way back, the KC-390 brought most passengers. Aboard Legacy, a more comfortable aircraft, were a pregnant woman and two families with toddlers, in addition to the Brazilian chancellor.
