As part of a humanitarian shelter initiative, Brazil welcomed 47 Ukrainians who were in Poland. They landed at São Paulo’s Guarulhos airport Saturday (Mar. 26).

The Ministry of Foreign Relations stated they had support from the task force of the Brazilian Embassy in Warsaw. The embassy provided  travel documents and notes addressed to Polish migration, health, and airport authorities.

The Ukrainians were also supported by the Consulate-General in Frankfurt, where a flight connection was made.

A resolution from the ministries of Foreign Relations as well as that of Justice and Public Security offers a temporary visa and residence permit for the humanitarian reception of Ukrainians who have been affected or displaced by the war in Ukraine.

Ukrainians coming to Brazil without a visa may apply for a residence permit at Federal Police stations.
