Cardozo leaves Justice Ministry, takes office as Attorney-General

President Dilma Rousseff decided to accept the resignation of Justice Minister José Eduardo Cardozo, now to be replaced by Wellington César Lima e Silva, former Prosecutor-General of the State of Bahia.
A few weeks ago, current Attorney-General Luís Inácio Adams had voiced his plans to leave the government and work on personal projects.

The changes were confirmed in an official note released by president's Social Communication Secretariat. In it, Rousseff “shows gratitude for the services provided with competence and brilliance during all these years by Dr Luís Inácio Adams, and wishes him success in his future professional endeavors.”
New Justice Minister
Born in Salvador, Wellington César Lima e Silva, the new justice minister, became a prosecutor in 1991. After working in municipal courts in the interior, he was promoted to serve as prosecutor in his native capital. He holds a master's degree in Criminal Sciences, and was appointed Prosecutor-General in 2010 by Jaques Wagner, the president's current chief of staff, then a state governor.
