Rousseff supports Bolivia as “South America's energy heart”
After meeting with Bolivian President Evo Morales, President Dilma Rousseff said that Brazil subscribes to the goal of transforming the neighboring country into “South America's energy heart”. According to the president, the government has kept a keen watch on Bolivia's efforts to expand its “successful exploration of natural gas.”
Rousseff and Morales had lunch at the Itamaraty Palace, the Foreign Relations Ministry building. During her toast to the Bolivian head of state, the president noted that he has been a Latin American symbol of “peoples' capacity to be represented in an independent manner.” Brazil wants Bolivia to release its potential for electric energy production and export, she stated.
In return, Morales said she counts on Brazil's support in reducing poverty through social policies and technology exchange. “In moments like these, I've never felt left behind by Lula or Dilma, or the Brazilian people,” he declared.
In Rousseff's view, President Evo provided Bolivians with political stability and economic development.
