Brazil’s Prosecutor-General Raquel Dodge ruled the opening of a motion on the federalization of the probes into the killing of Rio de Janeiro city councilor Marielle Franco, murdered last night (Mar. 14) in Rio de Janeiro.

In a note, Dodge declared she also formally requested the Federal Police to implement the necessary measures to investigate the assassination.

André de Carvalho Ramos, human rights secretary at the Prosecutor-General’s Office, was sent to Rio de Janeiro to monitor the early stages of the investigation conducted by state prosecutors, Dodge reported.
