Deputy Prosecutor Luiz Lima accused the Brazão brothers of being part of a criminal organization, having ties to the militia operating in Rio das Pedras, Rio de Janeiro.
Upon the arrest of a representative, it is mandatory to inform the respective Legislative House, enabling it to deliberate on whether to uphold or revoke the order.
The document points out that Brazão's work in the City Council was characterized by support for "questionable legislation on land issues and irregular occupations."
Justice Alexandre Moraes wrote there was “strong evidence of materiality and authorship” of the planning of the murder by the three prisoners, as well as maneuvers to cover up the crime and hinder probes.
The brothers Domingos and Chiquinho Brazão, along with former Rio Civil Police chief Rivaldo Barbosa, were arrested on Sunday morning (24) during Operation Murder Inc.
